The 1st Annual DoItForDale Skate Contest was a huge success! First and foremost the GWL Skatepark Corp. would like to thank the multiple sponsors … Mountain Creek, Stimulus skateboards, Vans, Junior’s Skate And Sport, LLC, Burton Snowboards and Nimbus Skate for providing amazing prizes for the competitors who skated/biked/scootered hard in memory of their friend Dale Hirrel on the anniversary of his passing.
We’d also like to thank our host the Greenwood Lake PBA for letting us #sendit in their parking lot and Junior’s Skate And Sport, LLC for providing the ramps the competitors used at the venue. Our Veep Kurk Koziel organized, promoted, set-up and emcee’d the event as well … thanks Captain Kurk! Big thanks to Kymberly Hirrel and Melissa Koziel for coordinating the GWL Skatepark tent with merchandise and registrations, and to Pat Rabdau for taking some great videos of the action. Special thanks also to Vesuvius Brick Oven Pizza for providing pizza and kicking back some of their proceeds to our cause!
Most of all, we want to thank the close to 100 people who braved the cold and helped us make the kickoff event of this annual tradition one to remember! Check out some of the videos and stills. Over 30 of those in attendance competed on skateboards, bikes or scooters in memory of Dale Hirrel! From Accord, NY to Long Beach Island, NJ, we had competitors come together from the far reaches of New York and New Jersey to compete. We can’t wait until next year, and we’ll keep fundraising toward our goal so that we can soon host the DoItForDale Skate Contest in our own concrete flowpark!
